CLARE PARK SCHOOL
Hail and farewell.

Amid the children’s tears we watched you die:
Now ended is the dream that once was born
From all the hopes and joys of those who planned,
Gave birth to what, alas, we could not save.

The more we loved and gave, and more received,
So much the more we mourn. All is not lost;
Your beauty is dispersed: elsewhere will flower
The promise that within your walls began.

Your spirit, scattered, soon will rise again
From al the hearts that loved you. Who can know
What fruits may be gathered be from all our trying?

Your mark is left upon the face of Time:
Your children’s children will receive the torch
And years to come will crown our memories
With joy: OLIM MEMINISSE JUVABIT.

Farewell, dear love, we shall not e’er forget:
The seed is sown, the harvest will not fail.
